Awakening
Our challenge each day
is not to get dressed to face the world
But to unglove ourselves
So that the doorknob feels cold and the car handle feels wet
And the kiss goodbye feels like the lips of another being,
Soft and unrepeatable

That's a great poem. Keep practising taking off those gloves!
ReplyDeleteI fear I am better at putting gloves on than taking them off.

ReplyDeleteAnd slowly working on the locks is better than not even being aware that they're there. I suspect that this ungloving is hard for everyone. If it was easy, we wouldn't have the gloves on in the first place! :-)
