Notes of Love and Other Things

Image
Things that bring tears to my eyes and joy in my heart. My girl and I started exchanging notes on this pad about 12 years ago. We haven't written a lot but every once in a while it shows up on my table or her bed with words of love or just an update. I wish we had dated the notes from the beginning and I wish I hadn't used one of them to chide her about something she had done wrong. Ah well, live and learn.

What You Say?

People will apply meaning to Nancy Pelosi's tearing up of the State of the Union speech. Very likely their opinions of the meaning will follow their own party lines. And while I don’t believe it was necessary, neither do I believe that it means any more than what she said it means. "I tore up a manifesto of mistruths," Pelosi said at her weekly Capitol Hill news conference Thursday. "It was necessary to get the attention of the American people to say, 'This is not true. And this is how it affects you.' And I don't need any lessons from anyone, especially the President of the United States, about dignity." That is what she says it means. It does not mean she doesn't value our military veterans, or families in need of help (Please......it is rather widely known that the Democrats are the ones that are trying to protect the safety nets like the disability cuts suggested in the POTUS's new budget). It does not mean she disrespect the office

The POTUS, who supposedly “loves” this country, just fired a highly decorated soldier for telling the truth about a phone call he listened to, and when he had concerns, reported the contents of the call to the proper chain of command. When the House subpoenaed him, he testified to what he had heard. Nothing more and nothing less. Oh, the POTUS fired his highly decorated brother too. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? There was a day when we held our heroes up with honor and respect. While he wasn’t perfect, and while my politics may have differed, I held John McCain in the place of honor he absolutely deserved. Apparently, war heroes do not count for much to some people.

I Can Do It

While my man has a “get it done” attitude, a lot of that is bravado and I find that he really is not all that handy around the house. He works like gangbusters in the yard, but the honey do’s are not really his forte. Ive learned a few things over the years and I might remind you that a while back I replaced the garbage disposal while he handed me the tools. Coming together later in life, we’ve found that trying to “do a project” together often ends up in an argument. Being a smart woman, I prefer to not start those kind of projects when he is around. Secretly, I think he could do most of them but doesn’t want to, so feigning ignorance kind of gets him off. He once told me he doesn’t know light bulbs. Over the last couple of days I got a few tasks done that have needed doing for a good long while. I replaced the weather stripping on the door which wasn’t hard but not as simple as the YouTube videos suggested. Most of them assumed a preexisting tract that held the stiffer part of a
