Happiness

This is a goal. I keep trying.
I am happy.

I have much to be happy about.

I am learning to be happy with what I am presented with. When anger, sadness or envy arrive to squeeze my head and turn my world back into the darker place that it once was, I now have some tools to grapple with them, taking back the power they have over me and reestablishing peace. It doesn't mean I am pretending that my body doesn't' hurt or my feelings haven't been bruised or that a betrayal hasn't happened. It just means that I don't give them as much power as they once had.

I give much of the credit to Al-Anon and a counselor that also "works a program". They have opened my eyes like a blind person regaining sight. Al-Anon made me look at me and take responsibility. Not in a bad way but in an authentic and tough way. I am no longer doing Al-Anon because I realized that ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) is much more relevant and effective for my circumstances. Basically the same idea with a slightly different focus. I've found a fantastic meeting and I will stick with it.

I highly recommend........it's possible that life can get better......so much better.

Meanwhile, be kind today. It'll do your soul good.

    1. I wish you the best in your efforts. Old habits and nutty people try to keep us where we are. Your Goddess be with you.

  2. HELL YEAH! after I "divorced" my parental units and divorced my ex-husband, my sanity improved. NO ONE walks all over me now, or uses me like a doormat. 4 years of psychotherapy helped me much.

it also helps to have a kind spouse, 3 pussycats, a great job.

  5. One day at a time, Linda. Navigating through life when there are obstacles is quite challenging. Any progressive you make is reason for celebration!

  8. Thank you so much, via your excellent blog (which I came across for the first time today), I have learned about the ACA and that there is a weekly meeting only 20 miles away. I'm very grateful! xxx
