A Great Big Thank You

This blog of mine has been a place of healing, learning and vulnerability. Over time it has changed its purpose, become less frenetic and focused more on the small, important things in life.

In addition to my own writing, I follow a number of other blogs. I've been pretty purposeful about it. The writings of some unique and articulate people have given me tremendous pleasure. I follow warriors and witches, peace makers and artists, alcoholics and poets but mostly people just making their way through life the best way they know how.

Blogging offers up a world that would otherwise be inaccessible. Where else could I correspond daily with an Irish photographer, a Welsh nurse, an Indian wife and mom, two sweet women in battle with depression, a fellow HOH, a nurse who bares her soul and so, so many others that enrich my life by putting theirs out into the world?

You all help me figure out where to put the next step, which rung on the ladder I will climb to. I know it's an inside job, but it's nice to have help from various landscapes.

The one thing I have learned as I age, is that it is easy to prop up what I want rather than to be challenged with what I need. Blinders are my enemy.

Thanks for reading, being a cheering squad and for challenging me to do better.

I am a different person than the day I started because I have learned to be grateful.

  1. You're so right about blogging! I feel it has enriched my life.
I learn a lot from it about the good, the bad, the possible, the incredible. And yes, we, humans are stronger than steel.

  6. I enjoy blogging as well. People who don't blog find it an odd thing to do but for me it gets things out of my head and allows me to connect with others. It's like old fashioned pen pals in a sense.

  9. I need a soft place to fall that isn't always my spouse. Especially when I need to vent about him :-) That is blogging to me.
I battle depression as well and I work very hard at not going back to that dark place. It's looming right now and I feel it and fight it as best I can. During that time you can see the changes in my blog if you have been reading me for any length of time. Even though I don't discuss it. I tried once. It was met with people saying things like these are 3rd world problems. So I just don't. I miss my couple of good girlfriends who live in various states, none of which are near me. So I am an island. Blogging fills in the gaps some times. That probably made no damn sense to you Linda.

  11. I couldn't agree more but I think you have stated it so beautiful, so articulately and eloquently. You really need it. Like you, I have learned a lot and bloggers become friends you rarely, if ever meet. But friends, nonetheless.
